The collectible 2024 Calendar Plate could not fail to allude to Vista Alegre’s bicentennial, which is celebrated this year. Signaling, at the same time, the transience of time and the timelessness of creativity and art, the Duck Time Calendar Plate projects us into the future by evoking emblematic moments in the brand’s history. In the surrealist and original vision of Alessandro Lecis and Alessandra Panzeri, the duck is the central figure. A migratory bird symbolizing travel, fearless spirit and resilience, moving in the elements of Earth, Water and Air, this animal also alludes to the mascot that, it is said, served as a model for the first artists of Vista Alegre. As a backdrop, in perpetual motion and under the watchful eye of José Ferreira Pinto Basto, figurative and symbolic elements make up a multichronological narrative that unfolds in the same space. From the camels that transported the production of porcelain to the urban centers to the first private fire brigade, from the introduction of football in Portugal to the commercial entrepreneurship of José Ferreira Pinto Basto and his descendants, represented by the various merchant ships.
